PhD Thesis: A Four Dimensional First Principle Based Battery Degradation Model (4DM) for State of Health (SOH) and State of Function (SOF) Estimation

Research interests:

  1. Battery Modeling & State Estimation
  2. Control System Design
  3. Robotics & Mechatronics
  4. Analog Circuit Design

My current research focuses on developing a three dimensional battery model based on its physics of operation. This model will be able to simulate the degradation that the components of the battery undergo and highlight the response these phenomena have on the performance of the battery - State of Charge (SOC), State of Health (SOH) and State of Function (SOF).

Current Projects:

  1. Smart Battery Gauge at Butler Farm - with North Carolina Electric Member Cooperatives
  2. Smart Battery Gauge for Continuous Battery Assessment - with Duke Energy
  3. Prototyping a Smart Battery Gauge for Stationary Energy Storage of Renewable Energy Resources - with National Science Foundation
